Should Fast Food be Allowed in Schools? The youth of America get a ton of calories from fast food. Fast food restaurants should be allowed in school because children need it for their daily calories. Fast food should be allowed in school because for some Americans fast food is necessary, youth get a lot of their calories from fast food, and fast food restaurants are offering healthier options. For some Americans fast food is a staple. In the article “For younger Americans , fast food is a staple ” the author claims, “The youth of America get 12.4% of their calories . . . from another fast food source.” Without that 12.4 percent the children won't be getting enough calories. Without fast food the kids would be hungry. Also, in the same text, it states,“Whether toddlers or teenagers, the proportion of calories obtained from fast food was statistically the same . . . 12.4%”. This shows that no matter what age, fast food is important. Even if the people are a toddler fast food is an important part of their lives. According to the article “For younger Americans , fast food is a staple” , “On any given day, 34.3 percent of children and teens between the ages 2 and 19 eat . . . fast food.” The text states that quite a few of children and teens eat fast food. 34.3% is a relatively large number of people to be getting fast food. In the article it also states, “12.1% . . . of children and teens . . . get more than 40% of daily calories from fast food”. This shows that quite a bit of youth get nearly half of their daily calories from fast food.
