am aspiring to study medicine and become a paediatrician. Participating in the program would allow me to explore my other options and help me decide which aspect of science I would like to further develop on later in my career. It will be an opportunity for me to boarded and develop my skills, as well as widen my knowledge. Being exposed to working with experts and in professional lab would allow me to challenge myself as a scientist, solve problems and prove that I can adapt and think beyond the capacity of my age. Furthermore it would help me break my social limitation, as both of my parents are uneducated and to many people like them, science has little importance, especially if you are girl. I want to use this rare experience to change perspective, plus promote science to people with similar background as me. Inspire more people of my age to be interested in science. Also it would show to universities that I am a strong competitor and that I am determined to use my skills and interest to benefit a wide community through this opportunity. …show more content…

Recently I went to a lecture by a professor from Oxford, about how production of vaccine for pandemic like Ebola is affected by factors like politics and economic. This in many cases undermine the importance of scientific development. I read scientific journals, like the Nature, in order to be updated with new developments. Recently there was an article on the software Alpha go, developed by a former neuroscientist to mimic the learning capacity of the brain. I believe if the software can be modified further, it would be vital in providing information on how the brain develops and carries out complex function, which could lead to treatment for numerous neurological disorder, like depression. It is interesting, how there are little research on many mental health conditions, even though on estimate 450 million people are affected
