The 1920's were in fact really roaring. There was a lot of new technology, new ways of life, new culture and also new beliefs that were brought up during this time. Different events occurred during this time that helped and set us up for how we live today. New technology was created such as radios, cars and telephones these three were very popular at the time. “The number of cars registered in Canada in 1920 was 407,064, and the number of cars registered in Canada in 1930 was 1,239,889”
The 1920s was a decade that took place after World War I and was a time of great social, cultural and political change. The 1920s were marked by the emergence of new forms of entertainment, such as jazz music and the flapper culture, as well as significant political and social movements, including the women's rights movement and the 18th amendment which prohibited the manufacturing, selling and drinking of alcohol.
The 1920’s in America is often considered as “The Roaring Twenties. World War I was over, women got suffrage, fashion changed immensely, prohibition was put into place, and jazz filled the air. The Roaring ‘20s was a decade of play and prosperity. Unemployment was low and Americans were better off financially. After World War I, America wanted to return to normal.
The 1920s are generally regarded as the roaring 20s, and they were roaring. In the cities, wealth and prosperity flourished and art, such as music and literature, was beholden by all. For the urban citizens of America, the 1920s were a roaring good time. However, the same could not be said for Susan Campbell. She was a farmer in Minnesota.
In the 1920's also known as the Roaring 20’s is a time period of change. Technology became easier and people’s rights were fixed. Some changes were good and some were bad. One of these changes was Women and Flappers. The other was Prohibition but there were many more.

However, with this time period came along many changes for the United States. Inventions such as radios, automobiles, refrigerators, toasters, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, movies, credit and lay away, the instant camera, etc. we're only a few inventions that helped to make the 1920's as memorable as it is. This time period was a time that America bathed in prosperity which allowed U.S. citizens to enjoy more leisure time.
How did the life and spirit of the average American change from the 1920s to the 1930s? The life and spirit of the average American changed dramatically from the 1920s to the 1930s. In the 1920s it was very upbeat. Americans were living their life, mainly the women though. They went to bars and there they drank, smoked, and danced.
Throughout the history of America, we as a nation have gone through many unique time periods. Whether it was during the colonial times where we fought for revolution or during the age of Manifest Destiny where we migrated West to fulfill our destiny or when we were battling through the Great Depression to fix and stabilize our economy all of these different times we have been through still bears an impact on our society as a whole today. A time period in specific I will be talking about is the Roaring 20s. The 1920s was an era of social and political change which sent America into the modern age, where for the first time Americans actually lived more in cities than farms. The Roaring Twenties arose with new trends, new technology, and a new morality. With wars finally and completely over, it was time for Americans to have some fun and let all the tension go. The women were able to free some of their restrictions with the ability to drink, vote, and have their own reputation. Also, Americans released the stress through using new technology, such as cars, airplanes, and radios. The Twenties finished with a screeching halt as the growth in the economy collapsed and the Great Depression into the next decade.
The 1920s carried much change in society. Some of these changes were more rights for women, jazz music, and prohibition. The people of the 1920s were disillusioned by society lacking in idealism and vision, sense of personal alienation, and Americans were obsessed with materialism and outmoded moral values (The Roaring Twenties).Cultural changes were strongly influenced by the destruction of World War I ending 1918. America needed to recover and with it youth rebelled against the norms of the older generations.
The roaring twenties are exactly as they sound. Many things happened in the 1920 's we made some accomplishments that the U.S. is proud of but with those good times comes hard taking two steps forwards and one step back. The silent generation as one would call it ( people born in the mid 1920 to early 1940) was the generation that started it off for everyone today. Poor families began to have a sense of how wealthy people were living. New creations spreading around were causing more individuals to come up with their own. Before this event took place each individual's life would consist of working out in the farm, families using horses or carriages to drive along, women staying home doing chores and creating clothing for their family.

Although it is remembered as a fond time before the Great Depression there was also a lot of conflicts arising, Cultural conflicts in particular were at the center. Prohibition and Immigration were two of the main cultural conflicts during this time period.
