American Airlines is one of the founding associates, and their merger partner, US Airways, joined One World on March 31, 2014. American Airlines has control over important centers. These centers include Chicago, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. Another founding member would be British Airways. According to the One World website, “British Airways is one of the world's most recognized airlines and a founding member of the oneworld® alliance” (oneworld 2014). The British Airways has nearly 200 destinations, and runs through 90 countries. Some of the countries include Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Australia. Airberlin joined One World in March 2012. Airberlin is also Germany’s second largest airline, and they cover centers like Berlin. Established in 1923, Finnair is Finland's flagship carrier (oneworld 2014). Finnair joined the alliance in 1999 and has centers in Asia. Finnair also has Helsinki as their gateway hub. Iberia joined the One World alliance in 1999, and has a center in Madrid which allows their airplanes reach some 110 destinations. Iberia also happens to be Europe and Latin America’s leading transporter. Iberia is Spain’s flagship airline. Japan Airlines was created in 1951, but did not join the One World alliance until 2007. Japan Airlines serves hubs like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Okinawa. LAN Airlines is one of the largest and most awarded carriers in Latin America (oneworld 2014). LAN Airlines connected with One World union in year 2000, and fulfill some 90 destinations. TAM Airlines is Brazil’s leading carrier, and the Latin American region’s biggest market for air travel.
