People argue that the American Dream is impossible. In David Wallinchinsky’s article titled, “Is the American Dream Still Possible?,” he gives multiple statistics on sob stories where even educated people suffer from false hopes that they will live out the American Dream because they are “educationally qualified.” What he fails to realize is that the dream will not be attained by education alone, there are more factors to it than that such as the most important, opportunity. It just so happened that those people didn't get their break.
The popular perception of the American dream is that it is the perfect formula to achieve whatever you desire through unmatched opportunities. However, in reality the core of the dream holds many hidden flaws that ultimately discredit its validity. Throughout American History, examples of the privileged citizens see more respect to every life task that occurs. As for the rest of the population, the minorities who have been stepped over, suffer bias opinions that affect success barriers they attempt to cross. There is a sense of hypocrisy within the American dream discussion because the minorities that supposedly make this country diverse, fall under the crumbles of the privileged.
To most achieving the American Dream is obtaining success and economic stability. To some obtaining the American Dream is making more money than their parents. The United States of America, is known to be one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world. It has often been referred to by many as a global melting pot or as locals may say callaloo, due to the amassing of diverse ethnicities, cultures and nationalities. Within its borders, resides immigrants or descendants of immigrants from almost every region in the world, and each has in some way added to the American culture and way of life. America is known for its stance on freedom, it is a nation that values equality and justice, this can be noted in the last few words of their national anthem ‘indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.’ However, for many, high levels of economic and social inequalities are daily struggles, a battle that has been fought for decades to claim the most basic rights, in the pursuit of achieving the American Dream.

Lastly, the article “ L.A is the bad jobs capital of the U.S” by Harold Meyerson, goes into detail on how unequal wages are, and that it is impossible to live with a minimum wage job in Los Angeles when everything goes up except one 's salary.

Some people say that the American Dream is the pursuit of material prosperity; while others believe it’s living a simple, fulfilling life. It’s not merely the ability to acquire high wages or fancy sport cars, though in fact, the idea to start anew in a land full of opportunities and to attain a fuller life. The American Dream is alive, however it’s much easier for some to attain it than others; geography and socioeconomic status are the determining factors in this case. We as individual’s dream of a successful life with a house, car, and a job that pays us well to put food on the table in our house. However, only certain people can have that luxurious life that is part of an American Dream.
