In 1647, education first started when the General Court of Massachusetts Bay
Colony insisted that there should be an elementary school for each town of fifty families.
It wasn’t until the 1840’s all children were able to attend public schools. Lack of focus today is causing students to stress out and study so they can pass their exams without understanding the concept of what is being taught. Although education today lacks some focus and skills it has had the same concept of education from back then to now.
American education in the past has altered our education system today, which is defecting the effectiveness of an education because students are lacking basic skills they would need for success in a career.

Schoolboys studied higher math, Greek, Latin, science, geography, history, fencing, and social etiquette. Social etiquette is obligated for boys to take in order to have manner in social places and with being social. If the boys were rich they would go to boarding schools. Some lads would also have tutors to teach them privately and the tutors would have to be a man. Boys were also able to grammar school and college. Schoolgirls learned reading, writing, and arithmetic which would help them be able to read Bibles and be able to record expenses. Most adolescents (another word for girls) would also learn things like music, french, art and how to take care of a household. Girls were being taught how to be able of caring for a household, in order to do this they would have to learn how to cook, sew, clean and nurse. Education wasn’t considered as important for girls as it was for boys. This is important because it shows how education was taught in the past and what and how they would learn. In conclusion, in the past boys would be more educated than girls would, and girls would have more responsibilities than boys would.

Although some college students are missing summarizing skills, they have superior ingenuity in searching and using information from texts and documents. It might be a good idea if students set goals so that they will be more motivated to work if they know what goals they are working towards. It might also be helpful to point out when students are learning the skills that will help them later in the same course, especially when the material is difficult. This is important because college students don't know principal skills needed to be known to get through college and graduate. Overall college students are graduating without knowing the skills of interpreting or summarizing, which is going to be difficult because without these skills it will be hard to have a career.
Education in the past was mostly taught to boys so they would be more educated and be in a business with their fathers, therefore girls would have responsibilities of providing care for a family. Some responsibilities the girls would have are sewing, cooking, nursing and cleaning. Education today might have some issues, but it will keep changing to make improvements so that students and teachers are effective
