Investigations have shown that mafia leaders are still bribing public officials to this day to hide some of their activities and even trying to infiltrated witness protection programs and law enforcement(Marzulli 2015). They even have “mafia cops” infiltrating and providing case information to their mobster leaders. It has it’s own legislative branch, in this case the bosses who make all the rules. The bosses themselves are elected by the gang members, in which case after that he rules as a dictator. The soldiers and their generals or “caporegimes” are the judicial and executive branches. They are tasked with eliminating any threats, such is the case with murder incorporated. The mafia can be compared to a virus, and the U.S. government to a healthy organism. While the virus does weaken the immune system at first, it forces the immune system to adapt and create strong responses to deal with the virus. The virus then evolves to try to combat these immune responses. The mafia is a virus that has made the American government stronger against organized crime, yet somewhat weaker against political corruption.
