Public policy is strategies, procedures, or acts relating to any concerns that may be reflected as a significant national matter. Public policy, also termed “domestic policy has existed in the White House since the 1960’s” (The White House, n.d.) It is designed or intention is to solve domestic issues, just as foreign policy is tailored for international affairs. Many Policy’s are written and designed with the American citizen in mind, ranging from economics, education, health, immigration, energy and climate, Civil Rights, Disabilities, Ethics, Family, Fiscal Responsibility, Homeland Security, Poverty, Rural, Seniors & Social Security, Service, Taxes, Technology, Urban and Economic Mobility, Veterans, to Violence Prevention (The White House, n.d.). For example, a policy could be made to protect of the citizens from harmful rainwater due to pollution or to ensure that healthcare is affordable for all. …show more content…

An event natural or unnatural man made or act of nature that American people ask the question, what can be done? The national agenda is like a mirror of social reform, crisis, or change; it helps to reflect the attitudes, ideas and feelings of the public. People often call on the government to step in and provide assistance to the issue. It is not the role of the government to stop every shooting in America. However, the government can enact policy that restricts the use of high-powered and semi automatic weapons. A measure such as this would satisfy public interest and reduce or spark special interest groups like the National Rifle Association (NRA) to get involved to put more emphasis on the agenda.
