The War of the Revolution What were the political objectives of the British in the Revolutionary war? After the French and Indian war, the British government tried to reduce the debt that occurred during the war. The British tried to collect more taxes throughout the colonies and gain more power over the colonies. The British started out by passing the Stamp Act which was a way for the British to get more money by taxing all paper goods that is printed. The Americans repealed this act and stopped buying British goods.
During the 1700s America and it’s 13 colonies made a bold decision to revolt from Great Britain and become their own independent nation. This started a revolution that would forever change the way Americans would live. The War of Independence or better known as the American Revolution, consisted of the 13 colonies of America trying to gain independence from Great Britain and on July 4th 1776, America finally decided to declare their independence. Many say the revolution paved the way for many other great changes to take place, while others believed not a lot was impacted due to the revolution. This raises the question, “How Revolutionary was the American Revolution?”
The American Revolution was one of the most important wars that was fought in the history of the United States. The Patriots and the British had two different views on how things should be run in America. Many people have different opinions on why, where and how the war was started. There were a few key battles that helped to influence the outcome of the war. The outcome of the American Revolutionary War influenced the United States way of Freedom and the way the American people live today.
Imagine that you are a land owner in the late 1700’s and the king has just put out a new taxes and they are more than you can afford to pay. Would you just try and pay it or would you stand up for yourself and fight for your rights? When it comes to being an American the revolutionist definitely had the right idea of what it took to be an American. According to the literature studied, the revolutionists had the strongest argument for what is meant to be an American because they fought for what they believed in and they wanted to be free from the king.
The United States won its independence for Great Britain during the Revolutionary War. America struggled to get the advantage, but eventually was able to win the war. In the beginning it proved difficult to even acquire the troops necessary to fight a war. The troops they got had no adeptness for fighting. They struggled throughout the war and at times their chances for success looked bleak.
Professor White strongly defines the American Revolution as “a war that took more than just an army to win.” There are many different contributions that could easily support the successful win of the Patriots. However, the Patriots would not have been as successful during the war without the help of French soldiers. The American colonists faced many difficulties at the beginning of the American Revolution. The Americans suffered in areas of preparation, due to their lack of experienced soldiers and war supplies.
It’s been over 200 years since the original thirteen colonies of America fought their revolutionary war against Great Britain, in hopes of achieving their independence. We shall be going through a few areas of the Revolution, such as the military, social hierarchy, the role of men and women during the war, the colonists’ values of equality and their social contract response to the British government’s abuses, and we’ll compare these areas to the present day. France made a choice to assist the United States military until they received independence from Great Britain. The Revolution had a huge part in slavery, such as bringing conflict between slavery and liberty because the North prohibited slavery. The South did not believe that slavery should be abolished.
This advantage allowed the colonists to have lesser casualties as opposed to their enemies. Since America had a large territory, the remaining troops would have to wait months at a time for other troops to arrive at the port. Colonists then would use that time to attack the remaining English troops.

Let’s begin with the American revolution the conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown. Skirmishes between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict, and by the following summer, the rebels were waging a full-scale war for their independence. France entered the American Revolution on the side of the colonists in 1778, turning what had essentially been a civil war into an international conflict. After French assistance helped the Continental Army force the British surrender at Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781, the Americans had effectively won their independence, though fighting would not formally end until 1783.
Political, economic, military, and social factors were taken into account during the revolution. These aspects of the war all played a significant role in the outcome of the American Revolution. Since Great Britain was in a tremendous amount of debt, it started social and economic issues with the colonies. The French and Indian War (Seven Years War), fought between the British and the French over the Ohio River Valley was a huge contributing factor to said debt.
Impact of American Revolution through time Almost all aspects of the lives of Americans were somehow affected by the spirit of the American Revolution. The attitudes of American people towards religious life, women’s rights, voting and slavery were changed forever because of it. There was a drastic change in social and political life after independence.
