On January 18, 1978, the Hartford Civic Center experienced the largest snowstorm in it’s 5 years of existence At 4:19 a.m., the center of the Hartford Civic Center’s roof collapsed The arena was empty so no one was injured; however, if the collapse had occurred hours earlier the arena would have been packed for a UConn vs UMass basketball game. Even though jack never directly kills anyone by himself, he has been in a group that beat someone to death, he had one of his hunters kill piggy, and he tried to stab ralph. Did Osama bin Laden do 9/11? Most people would say yes because he sent the martyrs to fly the planes in to the buildings, the pentagon, and the white house. This is the same reason jack is considered a killer. He turned Roger to his side and planted the idea into his head that piggy and ralph needed to die.
Throughout this speech, Florence Kelley addresses The Philadelphia Convention of the National American Woman Suffrage Association in 1905, to bring attention to the working conditions of young children across the nation. Kelley’s rhetorical strategies are, listing examples of the appalling working conditions in a repetitive manner and appealing to ethos and pathos to persuade her audience. Kelley creates a compelling argument that captures the audience and throws them into the issue and then persuading them to join her battle. Kelley forms strong personal and emotional statements that strikes the hearts of the audience. She captures the hearts of the mothers and fathers in the audience and then encourages them to empathize with victims.
Many things can be learned by Aimee and Bethany. One thing that definitely can be learned is persistence. Both used persistence because it could have been easy to just give up, but they did not. They knew what their goal in life was, and they did not want to leave their goal unbroken. They also wanted to make their dream turn into a reality and both accomplished it.
In my school, a girl named Shelby died fighting cancer. Our school did everything in their power to help her family, a family that had decided to raise money to help not only themselves but other families that are fighting cancer. They started selling bracelets, shirts, and other merchandise to raise money. “Fight like a girl,” this was their title. Everyone knew of Shelby and how strong she had been.
Marilyn is challenged to memorize and navigate families without being able to communicate due to not speaking their native language. The reasoning behind her challenge is because she wanted to understand the world of the refugees, mercy is graded on how much you give, what matters is the willingness to provide shelter and compassion for your sister and brothers. Sr. Marilyn left her old job and gathered two of her friends because she wanted to feel what a refugee felt. In our lives today refugees are viewed
1993 World Trade Center Bombing In 1984, Peter Goldmark, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, recognized a potential vulnerability of the Twin Towers to terrorism. He created the Office of Special Planning (OSP) to assess the vulnerability and susceptibility of an attack. The OSP issued an internal report in November 1985 that recommended banning parking at the World Trade Center. The report also recommended guarding all garage entrances, restricting pedestrian access, and randomly inspecting vehicles (9/11 Interactive Timelines, n/d).

Learning how to be selfless was an important lesson that Cole learned through his Circle Justice process.
The morning was bleak and tinted with gray—not that I cared. I no longer had a place where I was needed, anyway. The day I lost my job was the day nothing mattered; it was as if the world had reached an impasse, and time would only flow where I wasn’t. How can someone be fired just for aiding those who need it? My thoughts have been embittered.
She states, “Feed the hungry, comfort the weary, soothe the afflicted.” The parallelism demonstrates how easy it is to help by uses three-word phrases in succession giving and action followed by the person it would help. Because we are shown quick and easy ways to help those in need, we, as the readers, feel compelled to work toward changing the food shortage and to force the government to as well.
Just before Halloween at the end of October, my class tried out an unusual experiment, We had to perform random acts of kindness for our friend and family. We have been reading a book by Jerry Spinelli called, “Stargirl”. In the book it says how Stargirl did random acts of kindness to people she doesn’t know. It also told us how people reacted to the random acts of kindness that stargirl did to them.
The Twin Towers were known for being on T.V, keeping peace, and being blown up by terrorists. The skyline is one of the things people think about most when they think of the twin towers. It once held the the record of the tallest building in the U.S.A because of its 360 foot spire at the top. You could go up to the “observation deck” and watch the city below. It was shown in the intro of the popular T.V show at the time Friends.
