Beowulf; An Epic Story

Beowulf is an epic hero, his strength, loyalty and bravery. He shows all of these characteristics multiple times in the duration of this epic, whether it's simply accepting to battle a demonistic foe or how he decides to battle the enemy. No matter how he battled or what he was fighting Beowulf always came out on top with his mission completed, people saved, and the enemy slain. He had outwitted the beast Grendel and defeated him with only his bare hands. Proving he was truly an epic hero with extraordinary strength and wits.

One example of him being a very heroic and unnaturally strong is when he laid a trap for Grendel and battled him without weapons and armor man to beast. After he succeeded, Grendel's mother came to make a statement to the villagers and king of Denmark. Seeking revenge for her dead son, she slayed the King Hrothgar’s right hand man and lifelong best friend. Beowulf volunteers to deal with the threat and free Denmark of Grendel's mother's’ dark clutches . The simple fact he stayed and volunteered to help when no one asked shows how brave, and loyal he is to people in need. His lust for glory and recognition driving him into the most dangerous situations. All of this proving he truly is an epic hero in bravery and loyalty. …show more content…

After realizing his uniquely made helm, armor, and sword had no effect on her he begins to improvise. As he looks around he finds a giant's sword with special symbols and enchantments on it.
