“In love you loosened yourself like seawater”, wrote the talented, poignant, and political Pablo Neruda (Neruda). He was born Ricardo Eliecer Neftali Reyes Basoalto, on July 12, 1904, in Parral, Chile (“Pablo Neruda- Biographical”). Neruda always had an interest in writing, he began writing at the early age of ten and gradually became an incredibly passionate and Noble Prize-winning poet. Pablo Neruda was also an outspoken political activist who offered his beautifully structured words to the public, inspiring generations to stand up and fight, love passionately, see nature differently, write poems, and share their words and ideas. Pablo Neruda’s entrance into politics began as a consul. In 1927-29 he had a job as a consul in Burma. He had a series of positions as a consul all over the world. In 1930, acting as a consul, he married a Dutch woman, Marie Antonietta Haagenar Vogelzang, who became his first wife. In 1934, his daughter Malva Marina Trinidad was born, unfortunately, with hydrocephalus, which is a condition that leads to brain swelling. While he was still a consul in Singapore and Burma, the Chilean government requested he come back to Chile.
