An overview of Capital Punishment A topic of moral that is constantly spoken about in our society is Capital Punishment. Capital punishment also is known as the death penalty, is a form of punishment that is giving to an individual by the state for committing certain crimes and being found guilty of committing these crimes. Although capital punishment exists in countries than just the United States the use of the practice within the United States, which to many, is the most prominent country of all is what makes it such a hot topic. The history of capital punishment exists back into the ancient times with the United States of America finally reinstating it in 1976 after it being abolished and reinstated over two times since 1608.
There are serval different ways the United States practices capital punishment in our justice’s system with the ultimate result being death. The most commonly used practice is lethal injection, where a person is injected with 3 different drugs for a quick and painless death. The person will become unconscious stop breathing then ultimately their heart will stop. One pro in capital punishment is that it is reserved for the people who commit and are convicted of crimes that are far beyond murder. Another pro that many argue is the cost of death versus the cost of living and paying for them in person. This is a pro is backed by the belief that it is cheaper for the government to kill someone who committed the unbearable crimes versus letting them live in prison where there will be provided resources at the state’s expense. Another pro that is said about the Capital Punishment is the fact that in the absence of the death penalty more crimes that included vicious assaults and murder
