In this booklet, I will be covering the range of different businesses, the purposes, ownership and the stakeholders of both companies (Tesco and Oxfam).
Tesco, a british based company, which was founded in Hackney, London by Jack Cohen in 1919, is the ninth largest retailer in the world. Tesco has many types of stores including Tesco Express,Tesco Bank, Tesco Extra (24 hours) and even Tesco Metro.
Oxfam, an international charity association focused on global poverty, was founded in Oxford, England in 1942, by a group of quakers,social activists, and Oxford academics. This charity has significantly impacted society by helping people who are less fortunate.
Range of different businesses:
The range of different businesses are as follows local, national, international and global. A local business is one that sells its products and services to consumers in its own city, town, or geographic area but can choose to sell its products to customers in its own community, its own country, or on another continent. A national business is is one that operates within the borders of a particular country. A international business is the exchange of goods and services among individuals and businesses in multiple countries. A global corporation is a business that operates in two or more countries.

There is private, public, not-for-profit/voluntary sector. The private sector encompasses all for-profit businesses that are not owned or operated by the government. The public sector is generally incorporated with associations that are owned and functioned by the government and created to provide services for its citizens. The voluntary sector is the commitment and obligation of social activity managed by organisations that are not-for-profit and
