Analysis and learning assessment

Children’s development is significant from the first few years because it influences their present and future. Children’s development refers children’s physical growth, as well as their skill to learn the social, emotional, behaviour, communication skills they need for their future lives (Raising Children Network, 2017). Children are young, but they are eager to explore and investigate everything (Curtis & Carter, 2013, p. 125). For example, Lucas and Tyson were excited when I took all the materials out, they declared what they knew and kept asking me about the materials they were interested. Imagination is not just giving children the free time, it also promotes children’s cognitive and social development (Bright Horizons, n.d.). During the imaginative play, children enhance their thinking skills and problem-solving skills. Children enhance the abilities of making a decision or solve a problem when they learn to manage challenges in the daily practices (KidsMatter, n.d., p. 1). Children develop problem solving skill when they attempt to solve problems (School Curriculum and Standards Authority [SCSA], 2014, p. 19). Nevertheless, educators can help children to develop problem solving skill by providing learning experiences that encourage children to investigate and solve problems in the early childhood education (DEEWR, 2009, p. 35). During the Hospital Dramatic Play learning experience, the pre-service teacher asked questions for Lucas and Tyson to think and solve, such as how can you help Tyson’s knee to stop bleeding using the materials in your office, a band aid, a cotton ball? Certainly, problem solving is essential as children will need it when they in the home, the school and the
