He also uses various biomorphic shapes, meaning he based the shapes on natural forms. Lastly, this painting demonstrates atmospheric perspective. Perspective through color change, value, and detail(48). All of these visual elements combined together, allow an artist to create an outstanding work of art.
The sky is above the mountains and is the only light colored part of the painting with its blues and whites for the clouds. The whole other half of the painting is dramatic with dark brown and blacks mixed with dark greens and oranges within the trees. I believe the artist depicts the world as representational in his painting because the scenery is almost life like and realistic. Oil on canvas was used for this painting; in which all oil paints

Tim Burton uses many styles in his films that he has directed. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, and Alice in Wonderland Tim Burton uses shot -reverse -shot and non-diegetic sound to make the audience feel that they don’t need to judge people from appearances. Hello Cimberleigh, Thank you for sharing your post! I appreciated reading your hypotheses about what you saw in the paintings. It was interesting to review other responses and see how different people view and draw various conclusions from the same images. For example, in the first image you saw isolation whereas I saw someone being methodical, not necessarily thinking about anything in particular, but contemplating. From my perspective, the person may have been thinking about positive and negative things, but without additional information I didn’t feel comfortable drawing conclusions.
The appealing factor of this paintings comes from its message and juxtaposition of colours and stroke
The painting was made of oil on canvas. In this painting I see a young boy sitting down looking at something on his right side. He also looks like he 's sad or thinking about something. He wanted to create a peaceful feeling in this painting and his use of color and shapes really reflect that. This painting uses different shades of green for the different shapes of leaves and different pinks for the different flowers that are all around this bowl of goldfish. The fish have very bold eyes and one even has its mouth open as if he’s hungry. The goldfish bowl isn’t so much a bowl, so as a large, tall vase.
“If he causes another man to yawn when he himself cannot help yawning, or to laugh or cry when he himself is obliged to laugh or cry, or to suffer when he himself is suffering— that does not amount to art” This quote jump started what classified as art to me. Art has to be indirect to some extent, as in for example if I were to paint a picture of an oak tree. To other people that would be just any old tree but maybe to someone else it reminds the of a time in their childhood and in remembering that moment they start feeling sad or happy. That would make my painting of the tree art because it brought emotion through a time of reflection, meaning it was caused indirectly. “And it is upon this capacity of man to receive another man’s expression of feeling and experience those feelings himself, that the activity of art is based.”

In art, color is very personal and subjective, and gives different meaning to different people. However, in this Van Gogh piece, it is clear what the colors are used for. The blue found in the man’s overalls suggests uneasiness, melancholy and distress. Blue is unanimously associated with sorrow, and it is clear that in this piece, the subject is suffering immensely. The color is used to compliment the feelings the audience perceives from this artwork.
