The McDonaldization of Society is a book written by George Ritzer. Just how people have created the terms “Snapchatted” or “Tweeted”, Ritzer created the term “McDonaldization”. He defines McDonaldization as “the process by which principles of fast food restaurants have come to dominate virtually every aspect of society. McDonald's has grabbed people’s attention since the 1950s for its convenience and affordability. McDonaldization is an example of Rationalization. Rationalization refers to the process of replacing the values or traditions of a society with actions or thoughts that appear more rational and or logical. McDonaldization is said to have four main components: Efficiency, Calculability, Predictability, and Control.
