Analysis Of The Article 'La Vida Robot'

Diverse qualities and skills help a team become more effective and work their way to achievement. The magazine article “La Vida Robot” by Joshua Davis, is about four Mexican immigrants who come together to build a robot for a Marine Technology Contest. The biography Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, is about two men named Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs who became a team and created an apple product business. Both Davis and Isaacson believe that a team with different qualities and personalities helps the team meet their goals and achievements. When it comes to building an effective team Davis believes that differences in team members make a successful team. He conveys his perspective in “La Vida Robot” where he says “...Lorenzo had grown up rebuilding car engines with his brother and cousin” (Davis 189). This is a good quality for their team member to have because it helps the team know more about mechanics when building the robot, which helped them have a better chance ofat winning. He demonstrates this in Steve Jobs where it says “They were very different, but they made a powerful team,” said Ron Wayne, an engineer at Atari” (Isaacson 217). This is an example of how they made a great team because of their differences. Wozniak says “Steve is just that sort of person. I mean he knew how to talk to a sales representative. I could never have done that. I’m too shy” (Isaacson 214). This evidence demonstrates that Jobs’s personality helped Wozniak and him with their business. Without Jobs, Wozniak wouldn’t have been able to do sales all by himself because he was so shy. They came together to make a prosperous business.
