Reading a book that changes one’s life, does not feel like reading a book, but more like looking through another gateway for your life. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has had an impact on my life, which I have not been able to turn back from since I read it. The book is about a fifteen year old boy, with autism, who tries to figure out who killed the neighbor’s dog. The book, however, is written through the perspective of the boy with autism. It really highlights what goes on within the head of someone with this disease, which is the largest growing disease in America. This paperback inspired me to take the stepping stones in learning about special needs and being apart in their lives, and also getting into the community to help them. …show more content…
The mind of someone autistic is very up front. From what I learned from the book, they do not understand emotion as well as we do. For example, the boy with autism would carry a piece of paper with him that had pictures with different facial expressions depicting emotions on it. When he was confused on how someone felt about something, he would look at his piece of paper and match the face with the person, showing him how to react. Also, they all have special quirks about them, as shown in the book. For example, the chapters that he wrote were all in prime number, just because he liked them the best. It is fun to see different autistic people, and finding all of their perks. Due to this book, I reached out and started to take care of boys and men with autism. These people have changed my life in such a way, it is hard to understand how far they have brought
