Author Kolbert discusses personal research and scientific studies of certain species that have become extinct are becoming extinct. One species Kolbert discusses in her research studies is the Panama Golden A discovery of a fugues that has brought extinction of the golden frog from wild and has speared throughout different counties including the United States. Kolbert travels to Panama to document first-hand what she discovers through scientific research of the mass Extinction of the one of the longest living Amphibians.

We do this by simply driving our cars to work everyday, powering our factories, and in general emitting large amounts of CO2 into our atmosphere. The United States, as a leading example for the word, must start taking action to cut its use of fossil fuels. I believe that the effects of global warming are very similar to the effects that tobacco has on a person, you can’t see it but it slowly builds up to destroy you. In other words, if we don’t take action right now to cut carbon dioxide and prevent the increasing greenhouse effect, the ocean levels will slowly rise as glaciers melt and retreat, imperiling the habitat of many endangered species. Since global warming is a proven phenomena, caused by an increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the air, it’s important for the government to regulate the carbon dioxide emissions of factories and the car manufacturers by enforcing laws and regulations.
The “Orbis Spike” specifies that the Anthropocene, as a geological epoch when human activities begin to take the dominant role in changing the earth in a global scale, starts at the year 1610 (Lewis and Maslin 171, 177). Everything like the increase in buying hushpuppies, to bad things like a syphilis epidemic has it’s breaking point known as it’s tipping point. Finally,this book is something extraordinary. It opens the human eye and shows that we should be more observant and pay more attention.
Now here were are in the 21st century surrounded by all this technology and environmental resources. Are we going to trust these new found theories of the Anthropocene, or wait until it’s entirely too late? The devastation would be much worse, from polar ice caps melting to natural disasters. Butler’s concept of Earthseed is not based on human individuality but on merging many to become one and always in a process of becoming. Human life is always changing, changing with other life forms. Butler in her works suggests different modes of kinship with human and nonhuman ‘Other’. P.k Nayar says, “By demonstrating the end of the sovereign human subject, critical humanism prepares the ground for the new form of the human, the posthuman.”
Climate Change is something that we have caused because of our choices to burn fossil fuels, at some point we have to face the problems that we have created. The consequences of Climate Change are horrific and Climate Change could end our existence as a species, most people do take action against Climate Change except, The Government of the United States of America, refuses to accept the serious dangers of climate change and continues releasing propaganda on Climate Change, claiming its effects are minimal and that we are not causing it. Peculiar how almost every other government in the world thinks otherwise. The reasons we are heading in the wrong direction is because the actions of humans are causing Climate Change, and almost all scientists agree on this matter. Another reason is the that the government isn’t trustworthy in what they say about Climate Change, meaning what they say about Climate Change is wrong, and we should change our policy on Climate Change.
Therefore, we need to think about tomorrow with respect to every action that we take in the environment and in this case we can say that sustainable development requires slower population growth. With this in mind, we need to be educated through our cultures about the impact we caused to the environment as we continue to reproduce. The challenge of environmental ethics has led to the attempt to apply traditional ethical theories, including consequentialism, deontology, and virtue ethics, to support contemporary environmental concerns; the preservation of biodiversity as an ethical goal; the broader concerns of some thinkers with wilderness, the built environment and the politics of poverty; the ethics of sustainability and climate change, and some directions for possible future developments of the discipline [ CITATION And15 \l 1033 ]. With this multi-dimensional approach one can see that it is more of a cultural issue to think of it from its origin.
