Sigmund Freud, founder of psychoanalysis, also known as the founder of Id, Ego, and Superego. His findings on the human brain were very prevalent in the novel Lord of the Flies. Author of the novel William Golding believed very heavily in Freud’s work. Golding being a teacher of young english boys helped him come up with the book. He watched very carefully on the human nature of these boys. Slowly coming up with the idea to really exploit human nature he wrote the novel with the boys being stranded on the deserted island. Coming up with the three main characters that went along perfectly with Freud’s work. In the novel Jack represented Id, Ralph played the role of Ego, and Piggy represented Superego.
