Her love for astronomy started when her mother showed her the constellations and it only ended when Annie passes away at the age of seventy-seven. Her legacy lives on because every year the Annie Jump Cannon Award is given to a female astronomer that has distinguished herself through work in astronomy. Cannon’s legacy also continues because her spectral classification is still taught to students

She became interested in the sky and the stars at an early age. William Mitchell, an amateur astronomer himself, opened the doors and introduced Maria to the endless realms of astronomy available to explore. He taught her to use the sextant and the reflecting telescope, to enable her to discover and venture for information by watching the stars. It was Maria’s early start in the field of astronomy that prepared her for the biggest discovery of her life. She and her father would go up to the roof every night.
Livingston compares the stars of the night sky the gleam he witnesses in the eyes of his own students, using diction relating to astronomy “twinkle” and “shooting star” to instill a sense of wonderment. “Under A Cruel Star” despite being an excellent book to read was not credible or believable as compared to Kevin McDermott’s scholarly article. Heda Kovaly depicts popular opinion under Communist dictatorship as being controlled by terror of the government. She states that popular opinion no longer comprised morals or humanity, but instead was uttered by fear and doubts of the consequences of their actions and the domination of the government. This significance of life can be explored and tested against details found in secondary sources. “Under A Cruel Star”, a primary source, provides personal experiences through the political difficulties of Jews while secondary source in Kevin McDermott’s article provides accurate facts of events that
“The Space Between Stars” was written by Geeta Kothari. The short story is about an Indian Girl named Maya who immigrated to America at a young age. The story shows what she went threw growing up as a female immigrant and all the situations he had to overcome. Through out the story I learned that there are women who struggle to show how they feel and how brave and compassionate a woman can be. The motif of Relationships is prominent throughout The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Khaled Hosseini uses relationships to develop characters and move plot. “I was Sunni and he was Shia’a” Hosseini continues to use character opposites to express diversity in successful relationships. He does this to emphasize how different ideologies can coexist. This is inspired by his life in Afghanistan living under the Soviets, then moving to the US where people from all races, religions, and ethnic backgrounds live together.

People thought that the north star was the brightest star in the universe. When we had slavery the slaves would follow the north star which was quite noticeable, considering people thought it was the brightest. Although, people may have gotten the North Star confused with other stars, people still believed it was the brightest. People believed that the north star was the brightest star because they got it confused with the dog star, (Alpha Canis Majoris). Stars have different magnitudes, so if the north star had a magnitude of below -1 it would be brightest then a star with a magnitude of above 0.
It is common for a person to admire the stars in the sky. Their brightness and arrangement is a fascinating sight, of course. On the other hand, people tend to forget or plainly ignore what is right under their feet. In “Song of Myself,” Walt Whitman focused on what he thought was truly important, details of the green grass. Whitman wrote, “I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey work of the stars” (663).
In regards to the historiography of gender politics in the Victorian era, the social position of women and femininity had become a problematic issue. Similarly, the gender apartheid instilled prior to the civil war in Afghanistan. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, initially published in 2007, is set in Afghanistan from the early 1960s to the early 2000s. In this, it explores the story of Mariam and Laila as the protagonists, who teach the reader the reality of life as a woman in a backward Islamic country. The story covers three decades of anti-Soviet jihad, civil war and Taliban tyranny seen from the perspectives of these two women and observes how they become to create a bond, despite having come from previously living in very different backgrounds.
Abstract women have been living very miserable lives throughout the history somewhere because of gender differences and somewhere base on lame excuses of religion. They do not have equal rights, freedom, opportunities as men and have been suffering gender-based violence perpetuated towards them in the male dominated society. Afghan women show great strength and resistance in the face of adverse circumstances. They have developed traumatic problems and in reaction to their problems, they have grown very resilience to the Afghan tradition and men harsh treatment. The research entitled “Trauma and Resistance of Afghan Women: A Critical Study of Khaled Hosseini’s Novel “A Thousand Splendid Suns”, was intended to critically analyze the novel to explore trauma and resistance of Afghan women.
