"Annabel Lee" “Annabel Lee”, written by Edgar Allan Poe represents the unexpected death of young Annabel Lee. In the beginning of the poem it starts by introducing, Annabel Lee and how narrator feels about her. “That a maiden there lived whom you may know by the name of Annabel Lee; and this maiden she lived with no other thought than to love and be loved by me” (Line 5). This show how the person in question, the narrator, feels about Annabel Lee. According to that stanza. Annabel Lee is the most important thing to him, that nothing else matters, and that she is the love of his life. Even being said that they were too young to understand what real love was and felt like. They knew what they had was what real love was. With this line it even states, “But we loved with a love that was more than love—. “ (Line 9) In their own hearts and eyes they understood what they had, was what only others could dream of having. Also, not only is the older generation in this poem against the two young lovers, it turns out that even heaven and hell are against them as well. "And neither the angels in Heaven above, nor the demons down under the sea". (Line 30) This line shows that it is the speaker's theory. He never comes out and accuses God of stealing away the love of his life, but it seems throughout the poem that was where he was headed with his words. Even though he mentions heaven and hell a couple of times he is not religious in his view of the way the universe acts. It would seem that his is like a paranoid man who thinks the whole entire galaxy has it out for him, even the parts he can not see with his own eyes. Actually, it is not uncommon for people, when tragedy strikes to ask big angry questions about heaven and earth in itself at all. "A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling, my beautiful Annabel Lee;." Poe’s entire reputation rests on his tales of haunting lyric poetry as well as on stories filled with terror. Edgar Allan Poe is an editor, a poet, and a critic who had a big impact on American literature. Most of his stories has him as one of the originators of detective and horror fiction. Born January 19, 1809 in Boston. Just within three years of his birth both parents died and he was sent to a wealthy tobacco merchant John Allan. His brother and sister were sent to live with other families as well. Like many poets, Poe showed interest in poetry at an early age, there are poetry verses on the back of his ledger sheets. The publication of “The Raven” made Poe somewhat famous in 1845, enough to draw large crowds to lectures. With rumors of committing adultery with another women and his wife’s deteriorating health, in 1846 Poe left the city and moved the country. It was then, that Virginia died of tuberculosis at in the winter of 1847, at the age of
