2. For this assignment, I have chosen a painting created by Bisa Butler titled Four Little Girls. Bisa Butler is a well-known contemporary artist who creates art paintings on quilts. Her art pieces often resonate with black heritage, identity, and history. Using quilts consisting of very attractive designs and colorful patterns, Butler brings awareness to Black culture and history by telling stories through her art, using creativity as an outlet. Furthermore, using quilts to display paintings is a unique art style that has and is still being adopted by several other prominent African American artists. Four Little Girls painting (quilt art piece) was painted by Butler in 2020 using cotton, lace, and silk. The painting depicts the images of four beautiful young African American girls.
