Sookan changes in many ways throughout the book, Year of Impossible Goodbyes, when faced with the following situations: when grandfather dies, when mother gets held back and Sookan and Inchun have to move on, and finally when Sookan and Inchun cross the border to get to the South. After grandfather passed away, Sookan and her family became very sick and depressed. This changed Sookan because grandfather had always been her number one supporter and was her role model. Sookan stayed calm and knew that he was always there for her, she also feels better because when she held his hand, she felt a little Buddha go into her and it made her feel and calm "Slowly, a feeling of calmness came over me.
PLOT SUMMARY AND THEME OF THE NOVEL: Magnus Chase and The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan is the story of how Magnus Chase, a son of the Norse God Frey, meets his untimely demise at the hands of the fire giant Surt after learning of his heritage. After being revived in the Norse afterlife, Valhalla, Magnus is taken back to the world of the living to fulfil his destiny as being the harbinger of the Wolf. In the end Magnus and his new found friends rebind the Wolf Fenris and defeat the fire giant Surt. As the story continues on, Dexter becomes severely infatuated by Judy. The desire to be hers overcomes him so greatly, he works his way to wealth to be in the same social class as her, hoping to catch her attention and marry her someday. However Judy may be beautifully the outside as she ages, but her insides say differently.

He survived a deadly virus that wiped out his entire town and he has to adapt to a life by himself. Finn lost his family and friends and had to survive on his own. He learnt to kill animals, defend himself and a whole lot more.
Throughout the Book Year Of Impossible Goodbyes, Sookan starts out as a completely different person from who she ends as. She starts out as a shy girl who is controlled and has to rely on everyone. In the end she is strong enough to take care of her little brother for a few days and provide for him. She changes from the moments when she is picking up branches from her grandfather's beloved tree, while she is angry and wishes that she wasn't born Korean, and while she is tried but still takes care of Inchun.
Throughout Year of Impossible Goodbyes, The main character, Sookan, had gone through Mandy things that made her change as a character. Most of her important changes changed her for the worse, either making her somber or angry and bitter. The three most important changes Sookan had happened when her Grandfather died, When her Japanese school teacher abused her, and when the sacred and beloved family pine tree got cut down. Grandfather was a very wise old man.

Providing easy game on farms lulls hunters into thinking all is well and wild habitat doesn’t need to be protected, defended, or enhanced. Game farms ignore less popular species and no one has the right to pen any wild species. Conditions on breeding farms are inhumane. Trophy hunting encourages “canned hunting” where animals are raised in captivity to be shot.
