Cytokinesis is the last step in cell reproduction which happens at the end of mitosis and results in the separation of the mother cell into daughter cells, both with the required nucleus, cytoplasm and organelle. This is true for both animals and plants however they differ in the mechanism used to form the separation..

In Animal Cytokinesis a contractile ring of Actin and myosin filimints forms circling the cell at the half way point. This filaments begin to constrict creating a cleavage furrow on the outside of the cell membrane, which eventually pinches the cell in half. At this point the two halfs seperate marking the end of cytokinesis and the end of cell replicaton.

Cell plate structure formed during plant cell cytokinesis by Golgi vesicles, forming a temporary structure (phragmoplast) and fusing at the metaphase plate; ultimately leads to the formation of
Cell walls that separate the two daughter cell cytokinesis division of the cytoplasm following mitosis that forms two daughter cells
FtsZ tubulin-like protein component of the prokaryotic cytoskeleton that is important in prokaryotic cytokinesis (name origin: Filamenting temperature-sensitive mutant Z)

Although I previously understood the basics, the underlying mechanisms were completely new ground. Memorizing all the new jargon and their order in the cell cycle will take additions effort, however, it all made perfect sense and cohesively complete. Moreover, I found their reuse of these mechanisms in both mitosis and meiosis and the various checkpoints in the cell cycle to be deeply satisfying in a strange way.. Biology appears to be like studying a fractal, with each level more complex and more beautiful than the
