The Manipulation Enigma of a Deceiver Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is a book filled with sly persuasion and propaganda. Squealer, Napoleon’s propagandist, uses many different techniques to twist information in order to mislead the animals to believe the pigs’ false stories. Squealer used the persuasive propaganda techniques of pathos and ethos. By using these techniques, Squealer effectively tricked all the animals into Napoleon’s scheme of complete control. Squealer uses pathos to alter the animal's’ thoughts and memories of what has happened.
Throughout the years there have been many tyrannical rulers. Although these leaders have very abusive regimes many of them stay in power because of use of manipulative methods. In George Orwells Animal Farm these methods are demonstrated in an allegory of the Russian Revolution. In this novella a farm of animals work together to revolt against their owner Mr Jones in order to escape his tyrannical rule. However, in doing so a pig by the name of Napoleon gains power and treats the animals just as Mr Jones did before the revolution.
To begin, in the stories of “Animal Farm” the book concludes on how the animals of Manor Farm turn into the owner of them by dictating each other, stealing ideas from one another, changing rules, overworking each other, and being just overall a communist farm. The author’s perspective and tone regarding intelligence explains how the pigs and Napoleon used their intelligence to trick and persuade the animals to their way of living. In the book “Animal Farm”, “The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume the leadership” (Orwell 12). The pigs dictate the animals and use them as slaves because they were not intelligent.

In George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm, a main recurring theme revolves around power and how those who hold it will ultimately fall into corruption. The desire for power stems from greed, but power also fuels greed.
We often ask ourselves, why is it that dictatorships last so long, if the people around us are against the government? George Orwell explains in Animal Farm how this becomes possible. Starting a corrupt government isn’t easy. Orwell allows us to understand, that in order to start a corrupt government, you always have to be one step ahead. To be like this, the leader has to create a massive movement that supports him, usually through lies and manipulation.
The ensuing rebellion under the leadership of the pigs Napoleon and Snowball leads to the animals taking over the farm. Vowing to eliminate the terrible inequities of the farmyard, the renamed Animal Farm is organised to benefit all who walk on four legs. But as time passes, the ideals of the rebellion are corrupt, then forgotten. This is all due to the lust for power that the pigs Napoleon and Snowball have that made them all selfish and corrupted. Animal farm in context to The Russian Revolution in terms of corrupting influence of power : Orwell 's goal was to portray the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the early years of the Soviet Union that resulted in a more oppressive and deadly government than the one it overthrew.
The society in the Animal Farm is one that manipulates and controls those with no power. This society is based upon the society from the Russian Revolution which shows how a community can be manipulated. By manipulating the animals Napoleon felt he could benefit himself more than the farm. George Orwell addresses how the animals are manipulated through fear and how they are afraid to question Napoleon to shift power.

Throughout history, it has been proven that so many people are being manipulated just because they think it’s the right thing. The people who are rich and powerful have control and influence on others and usually have a special talent, but the majority of successful people is in their position because of knowledge. But, not only that he allows another pig, Squealer, to do his dirty work. And also uses dogs to chase his enemy, Snowball, away . There are many parts in the book that shows how easily the animals were manipulated. The pigs saw that the other animals weren’t so smart and could be easily manipulated and took advantage of it. Napoleon also uses manipulation to gain and maintain a firm control by changing the Commandments for the farm in ways that work to his benefit. Squealer, Napoleon’s propaganda department, Keeps the farm animals believing in Napoleon by describing what they hear and see to make it seem harmless. Using effective tactics of fear, convincing propaganda, and manipulation, Napoleon gains and maintains control of Animal Farm. “Animal Farm” has corruption and equality in a way the animals try to succeed and achieve a goal to make the farm better. Power corrupts in “Animal Farm” because the pigs have a goal which is working together and helping one another.
George Orwell, in his novel Animal Farm, illustrates the flaws involved in a system where equality amongst all individuals is the basis for governance. Orwell represents society through various animals living on a farm under the control of human farmers. Throughout the novel, the animals revolt against their human owners under the leadership of pigs who state that once they gain control of the farm they shall all be equal. However, as the novel progresses it becomes clear that the pigs have a hidden motive and assert themselves into positions of power, becoming corrupt and eventually resembling the humans which they initially overthrew. The novel serves as a commentary by Orwell about the ‘’too-good-to-be-true’’ nature of socialist governmental policy, primarily focusing on the rise and eventual spoiling of the communist USSR government, which was present at the time the novel was written.
