How was Anne Frank finally caught after all those years that she was in in hiding? Anne hid for a total of 2 years in total until she was finally caught by the Germans and sent to Auschwitz. Anne Frank and her family were hiding in an abandoned office building which was easy and hard in some ways to get access to. So there was a man named Jan Gies and he would go find food that they could eat and he would bring it to the office building they were in. After Anne was sent to the camp and killed by Otto Frank, Anne's father who survived the holocaust and Miep Gies found her journal about what she had all written. Miep originally found it and gave it to Otto because he was the father and he deserved to see it and read it. It says that when Otto first received the journal he was too afraid to read it. He said if he read her journal it would make him break down in tears. Then when Otto finally had the courage to read the diary he was very impressed that she could write so well Then later in 1944 when the war was coming to an end Otto and Miep released the diary to the public so everyone in the future could have an idea what life was like during the war. They also made sure to release it because they wanted everyone to see how bad the holocaust really was and how sad and how many lives were lost during it. So they released it so history would repeat itself and that would never happen again.
