Identification of Problems
Living the American dream is what most Americans aspire to have and Anne Burns did accomplish that goal. Anne found success being a great business women and entrepreneur. Anne was an expatriate who was asked by the king of Jordan to come to the middle east and help spear head a new business venture for Jordanian women. Anne and her husband relocated to Jordan so Anne could begin her new position with ExportJordan. Even though Anne agreed to take this new role she was not fully aware of Jordan customs nor culture and this prove to be Anne discomfiture.

She stated to her co-workers that she could hire her husband to assist her because he was familiar with the job. However, Anne was forced to hire and inexperience Jordan male name Karim Dabbas. Karim was inexperience and slow and Anne nicknamed him worn sole because he ran back in forth to her office. Jafar overheard Anne talking poorly about Karim and confronted her on the issue. The argument grew and Anne cursed at Jafar. Anne became enrage and put her feet on his desk. Jafar stated some information on the Palestinian people and told her to let go of her American customs and ways. Anne had some unanswered questions and schedule a meeting with the director, Dr. Massimi, who stated Jordan was a complex country with different customs and culture and refuse to acknowledge nor answer any of Anne’s …show more content…

Anne western views on working with men was not acceptable; physical contact such as a handshake is acceptable in the United States but because of the different cultures it was frowned upon in Jordan. It is not uncommon for people to have different views and opinion and using profanity to get your point across is not necessary and does not solve the problem. The problem that Anne face with Jafar could have been resolve with a mediator. She could have met with the king and professionally discuss the problems she encountered at ExportJordian instead of trying to resolve the issues herself by insulting and belittling her co-workers. The king could have given her insight on his male dominated country and that traditions the Jordanian people were accustom too. Anne could have also sought an international global initiative agency to help her have patience before bridging or changing any old
