Thesis and Scope
The purpose of this article is geared towards reporting the findings of the efforts to develop insights into the nature, value and, indeed limits of distributed leadership of the senior managers in the online learning environment. In this study distributed leadership is defined as laying out and enabling quality management towards achieving a stated objective. Moreover, the population studied in this article comprised five partner universities which represented the diversity of development of higher education among Australian universities. Consequently, the central focus of this article encourages shared leadership, particularly for the online learning environment. According to the article, no individual has all the acumen to effectively and efficiently lead any organization.

The interview questions focused on establishing leadership within the online learning environment and what are the best ways to manage change within this environment. Participants were recruited by representatives of the five universities participating in the study. Furthermore, twelve persons were interviewed for 30 – 45 minutes, of which seven were male and five were female. Significantly, the interviewees comprised managers from the lower and top levels of management.
