Don't Hit Kids Did you know that in the last year approximately 1 in 7 children reported experiencing some form of abuse or neglect? Prevent Child Abuse America is an organizaion that was founded in 1972 by Donna J. Stone in Chicago who tragically died in 1985. It was founded because Donna saw a vision for a future without child neglect and abuse. Currently, their CEO is Melissa T. Merrick who has been president and Ceo since 2019 and has over 18 years of leadership experience in the etiology field. People that care about abused children should donate to Prevent Child Abuse America. Child Abuse America is a very trustorthy organization. According to the IRS’s ruling in 1999, “This charity's score is 92%, earning it a Four-Star rating. …show more content…

The organization states that “We are champions for all children, promoting programs and resources informed by science that enable kids, families, and entire communities to thrive—today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.” (Stone) This quote not only describes how Child Abuse America is dedicated to their goal, it also talks about how they use resources informed by science to do their job. Many charities don't do research before jumping into serious matters which can lead to a charity that people think is good, only to find out later that this charity was doing more harm than good because of their negligence. Child Abuse America, unlike these other charities, uses science and hard facts to help people in need. It is important that charities use effective solutions and back up their methods with science. This shows the commitment of the charity, that they are willing to help all kinds of people despite their situations.
