The banking industry is experiencing a significant transformation due to changes in customer needs, activities, behavior, and knowledge caused by the development of technology. Many graduates want to work in the banks; however, not everyone perceives the ways technology changes our banks in our modern society. It is exigent to research the impact of technology on the banking industry to make the audience, especially graduates who will work in the banking industry, understand how technology has affected every part of banking from the way banks operate to how customers access different banking services. At the beginning, we used Google Scholar to do our research. It offered us the same kinds of scholarly books and articles that we searched later in the UC Davis Library database. We directly searched our topic “the impact of technology on the banking industry,” finding that the search results were too basic for us. Then, we clicked “cited by” to see other articles that referenced them. We found several specific topics that we would like to dig into. On the other hand, the problem of using Google Scholar was that we could not have full access to the text of every research result; it could not contain everything. More specifically, we used the key words “technology,” “impact,” and “bank” to search the relevant articles. However, we found more than one hundred and ninety thousand results. Then, we chose to narrow down our search by using the filter tool “Peer-reviewed Journals,” which could increase the relevance and credibility of the sources. Next, we narrowed down our research by restricting the results to a specific period (2001-2017). Since the twenty-first century begun, we have witnessed and experienced so many changes due to the great inventions in science and technology.
