Anthony Gormley Analysis

Anthony Gormley an unique British sculpture that is also known widely for his outstanding work and it's uncommon nature. He has attended many schools in his life time to help him with the high amount of artistic knowledge that he has today, and has won many awards because of his work. Gormley was born in London, England on August 30th, 1950. He grew up in a rather large family, being the youngest of seven children. While he grew up he lived in Hampstead Garden Suburb, a town in London. When he got to the age, he attended Ampleforth College, a Benedictine boarding school in Yorkshire. After, in 1968 he attended Trinity College, in Cambridge, where he studied archaeology, anthropology, and the history of art until 1971. He then decided to travel to places such as Sri Lanka and India to learn more about Buddhism until 1974. When he got back, he then decided to attend another school. He started at Goldsmith's in London and Saint Martin's School of Art. He completed his studies in 1977 at Slade School of Fine Art, University College, in London with a postgraduate course on sculpture until 1979. With his own art, he took it to another level and gave it a whole new meaning. Anthony doesn't just place them in areas to make it more special, but he changes the material that was used to create the figure. Anthony also doesn't always put out his meaning, but keeps it to himself which is different. He also incorporates himself into most his work, such as using molds of himself. I also admire how Anthony went through so much school to make his intelligence on art higher. Although knowledge doesn't always lead to a great artist, I defiantly think that it greatly contributed to his style and way of doing everything.
