The character, Lisa Rowe, in the movie "Girl Interrupted" portrays characteristics of Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD). A person with an Antisocial Personality Disorder may choose to reject widely accepted social norms. The disorder is "marked by impulsive, callous, manipulative, aggressive and shows irresponsible behavior” (Weiten, 519). Since they lack social norms, people with APD also rarely feel guilty about their wrongdoing and lack a conscience. Due to a number of Lisa's characteristics and actions throughout the film, she accurately portrays the qualities of a person diagnosed with an Antisocial Personality Disorder. According to the qualities of a person with APD, there will be impulsive behavior shown. Lisa portrays impulsivity when she and Susanna decide to run away to Florida. Lisa begins to taunt Daisy, suggesting that she is still sick. She goes on to dig deeper into Daisy’s insecurities and states out loud that Daisy’s father has been sexually harassing her and suggests that she likes the things that her father does to her. Lisa was very insensitive to confront her in that manner. She knew that the things she said to Daisy would hurt her and was aware that Daisy was already suicidal. This same behavior is portrayed again the next morning after Susanna discovers that Daisy has committed suicide. Lisa comes into the bathroom and takes all of the money that Daisy has left in her pockets. She then suggests that this is the perfect time for her and Susanna to leave. Lisa did not feel any remorse after finding out what happened; even though she was the one who ultimately led Daisy to taking her own life. Lisa's actions in this situation are consistent with the qualities of Antisocial Personality Disorder because she did not have a guilty conscience about her
