After reading this week’s chapters from our textbook, one interesting topic that was discussed in chapter five was classifying instructional objectives. When a teacher wants to design objectives, it is important that they use three domains and they are the cognitive domain, affective domain, and psychomotor domain. The cognitive domain involves mental operations from the lowest level of the simple recall of information to complex, high-level evaluative process (Carjuzaa & Kellough, 2017, pg. 136). According to Carjuzaa and Kellough, “The syllabus and/or disclosure document contains information about the class or course and is usually presented to students on the first day or during the first week of school” (Carjuzaa & Kellough, 2017, pg. 152). The course syllabus is an outline of what will be happening throughout the year so that parents and students can have a clear description of what to expect. Some of the key components of the syllabus includes a description about the course, the importance of the course, goals, objectives, the materials required, types of assignments, attendance expectations, grading procedures, and other important information about the course. Lesson plans give teachers a roadmap on how the day should be planned out. The lesson plan will have the activities that students will participate, materials needed for the activities, the assessments, and the closure questions. One important factor that isn’t talked about much in lesson plans is making sure students stay busy throughout the whole lesson. For example, you may write out a lesson plan and to you, it might be perfect in time, but what if the students complete the activity quicker than you expected? What should you do? For situations like this, your lesson plans should have alternative activities where students can continue to stay busy. This can happen in a physical education classroom. You may think that the students will struggle to complete the drill but in a matter of fact, they master it in the first couple of minutes. By adding modifications to the lesson plan, it will help stretch the lesson because you can make it more difficult or easier depending on the students skill
