The Position Analysis Questionnaire, also known as the PAQ, is a questionnaire used to create a detailed profile of any given job. The reason why the PAQ is widely used for job analysis because of its inexpensiveness and ease of usage for employers. I can be used for automobile companies to restaurants and any other wide range of jobs in between. Once a PAQ is created, it can be used to compare the job of interest to any other job within a company or any other positions that is similar to the job of interest in different organizations (Riggio, 2013). A PAQ can gather information about the tasks that are relevant to the job and how much skill is required. In terms of event planning, jobs associated with it would be making calls to different companies in order to meet the needs of the event and coming up with an itinerary for the event. In this example, the event of interest will be a wedding. Event planners would have to arrange with bridal gown stores/tailors, stores for suits, bakeries for the cake, catering, decorations and so forth. Other jobs including in coordination a wedding also includes following the itinerary on the wedding day. A PAQ may find that a lot of time is being put into the behind the scenes work rather than the actual event itself due to setbacks in the planning process. By using the PAQ employers, analysts and so forth are able to determine what tasks a job may include, to what extent it needs to be carried out to and how much the job should be paid based on the skills. This use can be seen the example of event coordination. After using the PAQ as a way to create a profile for the job of interest, the PAQ can also be used to evaluate if the job is meeting the criteria. An instance of this was in the example of the assistant nurses and how they found that the job being done was not up to par with what the job should have entailed.
