There has been a occurring problems for many years surrounding of why athletes who are involved in sports have showed to read below their grade level. Statistics have shown that 60% of college athletes read below their grade level, this is a big situation for more big-time college to still have their academics still in place for students who are involved in sports. From the very beginning, there has always been compromise of athletic success and academic success, even of trying to have programs for athletes have failed. Reforms programs have been in effect of trying to change the course to have education outway sports,will it actually change the academic standards

The documentary Schooled: The Price Of College Sports,Which questioned the tactics of APR. To be in fact many athletes do receive the education that wasn't available for them in high school. On the other hand many lack the encouragement to be successful even with the amount tutors helping them. Even when the amount of academic fraud that has been caused by athletes that is unprepared and should be held to same standards as other students. My main point about this matter is that if the college board admissions is willing to accept student-athletes who are not mentally ready for college and the challenges, should be offered non-degree programs for these students; to give them an opportunity. They involve the school faculty compared to Willingham programs. In fact the APR with just resulted to more problems than solutions, and which the faculty should be given the chance to set the academic standards for these student-athletes, as well to creating more educational
