Abortion: Should it be Legal? Ever since January 22, 1973, when the US Supreme Court voted in favor of the court case Roe vs. Wade, there has been an immense amount of debate over the validity of Abortion. On one side of the issue, people see abortion as a woman’s right; to the other side, it is seen as murder. From a moral, scientific, and religious standpoint, I believe that it is wrong and that it is, in fact, the killing of a child. Since abortion was made legal in the United States, there have been fifty-seven million abortions in the United States alone. Each one of those children were a life that could have happened, but instead were stopped by a mother’s choice. God has a plan for that child that only He knows. Stopping this plan of His is, in my opinion, not our choice to make. Having sex was the choice of the two individual’s, and they should be ready to face the possible chance of having a child by doing so. Many use the example of rape or incest as a justification to have an abortion. Of course, when these situations occur it is an extremely tragic situation, but that does not give the mother an excuse. Every single abortion ends a life of an innocent child, no matter what the case. Some say that it would be better for an abortion to occur than a child to be born into poverty or an unsafe household. If that is the case, then by the same logic, any child born into that kind of situation should just be killed now so they do not have to suffer through it anymore. Many successful people have come from terrible situations. Throughout any kind of challenge the parents of the child might be going through that may make them consider abortion, going through with the pregnancy and having the child will most likely be a tremendous blessing to them.
