In the United States abortion has been one of the most controversial debates in culture and in politics. Since the early 1900’s anti-abortion laws have been in place. In 1973, in only twenty states, abortion was only legal in certain cases such as rape or incest. In the same year laws were made that made these previous laws invalid. Supreme Court in Roe versus Wade set guidelines for abortion. In 1992 in the case Planned Parenthood versus Casey, set up guidelines for what point a woman is able to have an abortion up until. In the beginning of the movie Donna gets dumped by her boyfriend because she was talking about their relationship in her comedy act. A day later she loses her job at a bookstore. Donna decides that since her life is falling apart to enjoy a long night of endless binge drinking. She meets a man at a bar named Max.
