John Krakauer wrote the Devils Thumb as a story but with bits of flashback to add depth to the story. In doing this he explains why he chose to climb the mountain. “Although my plan to climb the Devils Thumb wasn’t fully hatched until the spring of 1977, the mountain had been lurking in the recesses of my mind for about fifteen years ... the occasion was my eight birthday. When it came time to open my presents, my parents announced that they were offering me a choice of gifts: … either escort me to new Seattle World’s Fair to ride the Monorail and see the Space Needle, or give me an introductory taste of mountain climbing…”
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.

Some things wood stock faced such as a struggle to land a solid venue, keep customers from camping out, and even get performers to stage is what made this concert so special.
Homework #7 1. How did publishing effect a change in musical style in the Church, and what style was soon seen as outdated? During that time, the novel act of printing enabled writers and composers to share their work with others more easily and quickly, while making profits off of their work. Protestants, on the other hand, could do the same as well.
The question of morality in a criminal case has always been a topic of concern. A question arises when considering the following; does a good cause justify a serious crime? In John Brown’s case, he uses the abolitionist’s cause to justify the murder of several men. Though his intentions were good, and his cause was mighty, it’s not morally sound to murder people. Many would argue that he was a hero, that fighting for the end of slavery in the manner he did was an act of bravery.

Max Yasgur, a dairy farmer who leased his farm to the Woodstock promoters, once said to the millions of fans at the festival, “The important thing that you've proven to the world is that... a half a million young people can get together and have three days of fun and music and have nothing but fun and music, and I God Bless You for it!” (Gerdes 4), and that is exactly what the crowd of more than 400,000 fans did.
