racial identity affects a lot of people because of the way that we look at others and their skin color. skin color people think sometimes represents what kind of background you come from or the people you hang around. police badge and sometimes be a symbol of racial identity because there are many African American people being killed by police officers and the other way around too. there have been big riots about how black men have been killed by white police officers because people think the officer didn't because they he was black.

Black history is an essential aspect of American history that has been overlooked and underrepresented in mainstream education. It refers to the contributions, struggles, and triumphs of the African American community throughout history. This paper discusses what Black history means to me and how it has shaped my perspective on race and identity. One of the essential aspects of Black history that resonates with me is the resilience of my ancestors who endured centuries of enslavement, discrimination, segregation, and violence. This legacy of resilience has inspired me to persevere in the face of adversity and to work towards creating a more just and equitable society for all.
Pick up a history book, flip through its pages, and find a section(s) dedicated to African Americans. There will be a supercut of slavery and a few inventors, enough to count on one’s hand. Ultimately, only the historical characters that are considered salient are provided, which are white educators, Presidents, legislators, advocates, inventors, etc. This issue engenders the remaining reason to advocate Black History Month. “Carter G. Woodson was the sole individual responsible for creating Negro History Week in Washington, D.C., in February 1926” (Edmondson).
Cultural identity means many different thing to many different people. Each and every person has their own idea of what cultural identity is and what it means to them. According to oxfordreference.com, cultural identity is defined as “The definition of groups or individuals (by themselves or others) in terms of cultural or subcultural categories (including ethnicity, nationality, language, religion, and gender). ” I personally believe this is a very broad spectrum of what it really is.

It also talks about pedagogy. In the Native American culture, student have a hard time balance home life with school life. I am an African American female whom is a descendent from the African Slave and a native American refugee. My culture runs deep in my veins and I am a product of the strength of my mother and father. While growing up I understood we were on the poverty line. My family lived in a small home with 3 bedrooms and occupied 7 people. I grew up in a small southeast Georgian town named Statesboro.
It is very hard growing up in America in today’s world, especially if you are African American. You are judged by everyone, stereotyped by everyone, and made to feel like you don’t belong because of the color of your skin. When you are growing up you are taught to depend on the police to protect you, but when you are black, the police can scare you more than the actual criminals. Police officers harass, abuse, and even kill young black men all the time just because the color of their skin. They see them as crooks and criminals instead of young members of society.
A people's ability to endure through the most daunting obstacles is what defines their culture and identity. The struggles that the African-American society went through in the antebellum defined and molded a culture that is arguably the most close-knit in America. Constant abuse, torture, starvation, and rape were all daily events that brought Africans to the point of death and yet brought them closer as a people. As plantation owners methodically punished their slaves, the oppressed people mixed their African customs with American religion, music, and marriage to form a bond that grew into a powerful society that has greatly changed America.
This article states that the larger the black population in a state, the less money they receive. Upon reading this article and more, most people would stand alongside this argument. African-Americans in America should be receiving an equal amount of welfare because they are also human beings, this race makes up most of the poverty population, and people are most in need of financial aid to support themselves and their families. African-American families should receive welfare aid as much as any other race because firstly, they are human. African-Americans are human beings just like everyone else and no human being should get less aid to support themselves and/or their family’s due to the colour of one’s skin and where one lives.
I come from a diverse family, my mother is Afro-Colombian while my father is Trinidadian. Within this melting pot of cultures we have adopted this from past family members and friends who are Indian, Venezuelan, Bajan, Jamaican, and Ghanaian. The world is full with the many cultures of the very diverse people in it whose cultures differ from mine. I will be comparing and contrasting my culture to that of Somalians, White Europeans, and African- Americans. Food is a way people retain and spread their culture based on where and how they and their families grew up.
Many say ignorance is bliss, however the bliss is a one-sided relationship. In a world where people often are ignorant to a whole community of people, there is a consequence that comes upon them, and that is a revolt. In the U.S. ignorance to the need for power in black community is obvious, one must be extremely incredulous to be insensible to it. Black Nationalism and the Black Power Movement were ideologies, riots, and boycotts to free the black man from the oppression he had been forced to face by the White man. Black Nationalism was an idea to push the black man to hold a pride that he has a righteous position equal to that of white man.
I suppose when i used to think of cultural identity, i perceive it as what racial background we come from, what race we are. Whether it’s Mexican, Asian, French, etc… I assumed it meant what special foods we eat, and events or activities we participate in according to our background. Little did i know this is a misconception; quite a common one actually. Cultural identity is actually how you live your life and how you express yourself, the things you enjoy that make you, you. I am someone who enjoys many things, ranging from A-Z.

Throughout the long history, racism has been a subject of much debate, most notably in The United states of America. There have been numerous actions that suggest that racial inequality might still be intact with America’s modern society, such as the extreme violence shown by the police that has been roaming all over social media recently. This has eventually led to the creation of the controversial “Black lives matter” group. “Black lives matter” is an organization is an international activist campaign that disapproves of violence towards the African -American community.
Racism Racism is the conviction that qualities and capacities can be credited to individuals basically on the premise of their race and that some racial gatherings are better than others. Bigotry and separation have been utilized as capable weapons empowering apprehension or disdain of others in times of contention and war, and notwithstanding amid monetary downturns. Racism is also a very touchy subject for some people, as issues concerning free speech and Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights come into play. Some people argue that talking about supporting racial discrimination and prejudice is just words and that free speech should allow such views to be aired without restriction. Others point out that these words can lead to some very dire and serious consequences (the Nazi government policies being one example).
