During the life of a child, one dreams of firefighting, becoming a doctor,and even the desire to work as a veterinarian. At some point during that childhood, ones dreams are bigger than life itself. As maturity becomes more evident, the thought of ones career becomes more serious. Ultimately, a decision about education must be made. Whether it be to continue on and complete a higher education in college, or charge out into the workforce, one must make the decision that is right for them within their own circumstances. According to CNN, “the average college graduate holds at least $35,200 of debt and has spent four years out of the workforce, where he or she would be otherwise gaining experience.” Nowadays, many may be asking themselves, is college even worth it? The cost of college is heightening rapidly. Therefore, young adults are becoming less interested in seeking a college degree. Some may believe that college brings a large amount of debt, delaying one from buying a house, car, or getting married. Others are finding themselves wanting bigger salaries and more work benefits. Not only does a college degree help one grow intellectually, it is the foundation for more job opportunities and on average it is proven to aid in making more money.
