College is Worth It It’s impossible for me to escape a day without thinking about college, talking about college, or working towards college, but others don’t have that constant reminder of the future bombarding their lives. Our society is endlessly debating whether or not college is actually worth such an enormous investment. While there may be drawbacks to attending college, a higher level of education often benefits people. It is undeniable that for some people, college is not an option, with its sky-high tuitions or the skills necessary to graduate. Students who participate in internships during college gain real-world experience before they start on a job. According to Source C, a person “might benefit from the social and non-purely academic aspects of advanced schooling.” Companies will often look for those types of background in resumes, which will only benefit the employee. Also, while in college, students network with many professionals in the field who can refer them to many jobs in the future. For example, musicians who are looking for gigs are usually hired by people who know them to some degree. In order for that to happen, people tell one another about the musician and the musician must communicate with those interested. All sorts of jobs are needed to keep a society functioning and some people may find those jobs rewarding, but “education gives you choices” (Source D).
