Remember what we said earlier, our world, the galaxies, and even the whole universe is a fact for all mind equipped with the cerebral capacity to perceive any; be they from the animal kingdom or of the human species. But the truth about any of these facts does not exist for all. The truth about a particular object requires something other than mere objective awareness. An animal has consciousness of its environment like we do, but it does not know what the truth of it is. Animals are facts conscious like you and I, but they are not conscious of selfhood like we do. They are conscious of being alive, but they don’t KNOW what being alive means. The meaning of life has no importance for them. They are fact conscious, but not conscious of quality and of self-worthiness. They do not have subjective consciousness linked to a becoming as we do, and cannot therefore be conscious of themselves. The animal brain has a function like many other organs in the physical body, but nothing comparable to any functioning parts of the animal body. The brain is the terminus, or the focal point which allows consciousness of the physical world and, if sufficiently developed, the consciousness of quality
