Traditional school versus Year round school The idea of year round school is starting to be more the topic of discussion. Many people are for the idea of year round education and many are against it. “If our country began on a year around schedule, it would have seemed bizarre to propose the summer- off schedule as a superior way to educate students” says Principle Hazel Colebank. Although some may feel year round school is great for bettering education, changing what’s considered normal could cause more harm than good.
Is college worth it? Recently people have debated endlessly over this juggernaut of a question. Whether it's worth the debt and the added 4 years of stress and insanity when discovering the perfect future. There are many antagonistic claims that prove each other wrong but in the long haul college offers loads of added benefits that come into play when looking for a steady high paying job. Therefor proving that college is worth it because graduates tend to make higher salaries and prove to be more employable than those lacking a college degree.
Every high school student must make a decision on what type of secondary school to attend. Some students already know what they want to do with their futures and the decision is easy, but for most they have to weigh their options carefully and decide on what will best suit them. Traditional college is always pushed on students throughout high school, and it seems Trade schools are always forgotten. Trade schools teach a specific set of skills, tuition is cheaper, and the classes are shorter than a traditional college. Trade schools have several options for career paths that teach students a specific set of skills instead of a broad degree like in traditional college.
Is College Worth the Cost? Life’s success is achieved in different ways. (Director, n.d.) A lot of television programs and magazines instills the idea in us that being successful means; having a fulfilling career, having a lot of money and being powerful. Most religious and spiritual organizations, in contrast, claim that success means being at peace with God and finding spiritual happiness.
Will year-round schools truly help diminish the summer learning loss? Schools districts all over the country have changed to a new kind of school calendar that runs year-round in hopes of giving students the best learning experience. These changes came at a time when the summer learning loss challenged students’ knowledge over the summer. The traditional calendar, which consisted of 180 total work days and a long summer break, had been broken up to several periods of in-session days with the breaks distributed throughout the year (Source B). Superintendents and teachers had hoped that this would battle against the summer learning loss by not giving it a chance to take effect.
Year Round School Do I agree or disagree with the idea of year round school? Well, year round school is the practice of having students attend school without a traditional summer vacation. Year round school is usually a schedule that lasts from six to eight weeks in a row followed by a two to four week break. Instruction time is still one hundred and eighty days out of the year. I disagree with year round school because I suppose it negatively affects students, parents, and teachers in many ways.
Argumentative/ Persuasive Essay Molly Killen March 29, 2018 “The starting point of all achievement is desire.” – Napoleon Hill. All states have a course standard to follow to set goals for teaching and learning (West, 2018). Teachers use these standards as a guide within their classroom to provide the best learning for their students.
A controversial topic of schooling is the subject of all-year-round schooling. All-year-round schooling is when schools do not take the generic 2 months of summer vacation and instead take a 2-3 week vacation every 45 days of school. Some people disagree with this method of schooling as they think that it is ineffective as it has no educational impact, costs a lot of money on things such as utility bills, and also takes away time for summer which students use as a time to relax. Although some of these points may be factual, it does not mean that year-round schooling is not effective for many groups of people. Some may argue that year-round schooling is ineffective and does not boost student grades, however, due to the generic study method with no time to relax and recharge students are feeling burnout.
I believe that school should start later to coincide with the natural sleep clocks that teenagers have for a few reasons. My first reason is that teenagers have to take in a lot of information each day, and so much of what is being taught cannot be remembered by the students if they are half-asleep for most of the day. Secondly, there are several studies that show students learn much better when they have had the amount of sleep that they need. An amazing example of this is myself.
Begin writing here: Middle school is pretty easy if you understand how it works. To understand how it works you have to find older students that do well in school and use them as role models. If they are willing to give you advice you should consider following the advice. Although some people aren’t as they seem it is pretty easy to tell the good kids from the not as good ones. If you can find a good role model as a younger student it will help you in the long run.
21% of teen motor vehicle accidents are caused by drowsy driving. Many teens everyday are complaining about their school start times being way too early. Teen tiredness is now considered to be a public health pandemic. School starting at a later time is beneficial because it helps students catch up on sleep. It helps students stay out of trouble.
Although college is stressful and time consuming , having your dream career, is a huge life achievement. Having a job isn’t the same as having a career “I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as 'making a life”(Maya Angelou). If you sell yourself short by not going to college you’ll end up working just to make ends means not because it's what you enjoy doing, it's due to your family counting on it. Those who go to college will end up having a better future than those who don’t. I agree that going to college is more beneficial because my view on the topic states that in order to have a secure and clear future you must go to college.
Have you ever wondered how grades actually do help students throughout their career in school? Yes, many do believe grades do not help, can cause stress to students overall making them perform at a lesser level and sometimes some believe that school isn’t even needed at all in a child’s life. Grades can affect a student’s learning and constant low grades can bring them down and their mindset of just being a below average student. However, grades do help students by showing the student’s progress in school whether they are doing good or bad and grades give a goal to get a better grade by trying harder to get that grade a student wants. First, grades show progress to everyone besides just the student.
Albert Einstein once said, "Everybody is a genius... But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid". Unfortunately, most school systems depict this quote. They judge a significant amount of the population by their ability to answer a few questions. They rate them with letters and numbers, and force students to be represented by these letters and numbers for the rest of their lives.
Is Higher Education Worth It? Nowadays a lot of people argue whether a higher education is still worth it or not. They think that not everyone needs an extra four-year of learning to get an extra title. Many people still believe that higher education is useless. Moreover, to obtain a higher level of education, it takes lots of money.
