Middle school is a very different time, a time to start discovering yourself. Many people figure out what makes them truly happy, or what they want to do with their life during this time. It’s also the road to high school, the last stop of your standard American education. As a middle school graduate, I’ve dealt with all the ups and downs, all the A+’s and the C-’s, all the old and new friends, and all the choosing of classes. Electives are the time to have something you enjoy in school, to pick what makes you happy, but also what will help you later.
The knowledgeable words of John F. Kennedy state, “Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.” Cimarron High School is well known for its excellence academically and athletically. Although the school does a plethora of positive things, there are still some areas that could be improved to make it exceptionally better for students. Some athletes, of Cimarron High School, are having a hard time keeping up with difficult core classes on behalf of sports. Therefore, being able to take core classes earlier in the day will help many students perform better with their grades, attendance, and learning.
School Should Start Later A recent poll conducted by the National Sleep Foundation found that 60% of children under the age of 18 complained of being tired during the day, according to their parents, and 15% said they fell asleep at school during the year. This proves that kids aren’t getting enough sleep before school. I believe that a later middle school start time would have many beneficial effects on kids. As a result, kids would be more focused in class because they would be getting more sleep, that would lead to better grades, and finally reduced absenteeism.
Have you ever just been so stressed out from school and wish you could just have a break, but winter break or spring break seem SO far away? Well, if you feel like this, year-round school might be a good option for you. Some people believe that year-round school should be required. However, others think that it is not beneficial. Year-round school should be required because YRE multi-track calendars can enroll more students, it increases retention, and stress is minimized.
As a freshman the transition was some what difficult for me. These are somethings I think would be good to new for the middle schoolers that are tranistioning into highschool. First keep organized. I can 't stress that enough because if you don 't you will lose things really easy and become a real mess. Another thing is a personal opinion but I don 't think that going to your locker every passing period is a good idea.
All year round schooling. During the summer most students are at home or on trips with family, some are in school working all summer long. It is not because they have summer school, but it is because their school has switched to all year round schooling. The students could be invited over when they are in school; if their friends or family from different schools that does not have all year round schooling. Some students will not have a summer or get to spend anytime with their friends.
Kindred High School holds sports very dear to the core of its education and pastimes. If you don’t believe me, look at the turn out at the games and the Viking patriotism for our sports teams on game day. But one sport is missing, and it could be the most vital sport in the development of mankind: archery. Bows allowed mankind to get food, end wars, and make civilizations. Archery is being ignored, despite being the important, heritage-linked sport that it is.
Year-Round Schooling A study from the 2011-2012 school year concluded that there were up to as many as 3,700 schools that operated on the year round schedule (Year-Round Schooling). Currently, a majority of schools run on the typical schedule where there is three months worth of summer vacation. With this schedule, there is a major gap where information is typically lost, possibly resulting in possible degrading academics. Year long schooling should be implemented in schools as it allows for students to retain a larger portion of information leading to improved academics on this set schedule. With year round schooling, students are less likely to forget information, where the dropout rate reduces significantly.
According to Public School Review “86% of public schools still operate on a traditional schedule,” (Year Round vs. traditional schedule public schools 1). Meanwhile, 14% of schools in the U.S are operating on a year round schedule. Students shouldn’t have year round school because schools would have to pay more money, tourism and other industries count on summer profits, and parents are burdened with students lengthy schedule. To begin, many students are weighed down with the stress of school, therefore, schools should stick to having a summer break. Students shouldn’t have year round school because it would add costs to schools.
Year Round School Many schools have switched to year round schooling. In fact, there are 3,181 schools in the Michigan. With that 10% of those schools are public schools. Also, many schools with year round school have had high test scores and better rates. In year round school kids are showing more success and more understanding.
For many adolescents entering middle school is an overwhelming and anxious experience. It's a time of transition and offers a whole new learning experience that is very different from elementary school. Students are used to being with the same students and one main teacher throughout the day in a self contained classroom. The elementary teachers get to know the students very well and a safe and comfortable
Although all grades are essential in high school, I believe that ninth grade is the most important grade in high school because it sets a foundation for the rest of a person’s high school career, the peer judgment and self-assessment, as well as helping students excel into the next grade. While entering the ninth grade, students start to determine what their path will be in their high school career. Ninth grade sets a foundation for the rest of a student’s high school career. It sets the tone for future years to come, but it also determines if a student will have to repeat the ninth grade. The first year of high school is probably, in my opinion, of the most essential ways to test a person’s limits and measure the amount of perseverance the
After school, from 3 to 6 p.m, is a critical period of time in a child’s life. After school programs help keep kids safe and inspire them to learn during that period of time. After school programs are organized programs that youth can participate in outside of a traditional school day. Enrolling children in after school programs would provide them with benefits that unenrolled children would not receive, such as reduce risky behavior and promote physical health. After school programs provide a safe environment for children, while positively impacting their academics, safety, and their future.
In a world where things are always changing and getting better we get to the topic of Osage High School and its change. The school has turned a little outdated with not adding the proper improvements like other school have in the area. Now I am totally for the new renovations of the school to in hopes to get student more comfortable and proud of the school. Overall I feel as if the new additions will improve the school and the students in it.
A child is struggling to learn at his/ school. He is more of a visual learner, like learning with pictures and shapes in front of him. His school, however, does not have the power and funding to do such things for him, which leaves him struggling and get bad grades. Now, why does he have to struggle in a school system which can’t even support his learning style?
