Are there enough alcohol-dependent citizens in this fine country of America? Apparently not. According to factions of left wing, devil-worshiping anarchists, we need to have even more. Hiding behind arguments such as, “I did it when I was a kid, and I’m OK”, groups have begun fighting to have states begin lowering the drinking-age (There’s No Benefit To Lowering The Drinking Age 463). A national drinking age of twenty-one is respectable and fair to all. Alcohol, while it may be fun to drink, is a terrible substance can only lead to negative consequences. We all know that didn’t work. Though most people who will begin drinking don’t care about the legalities involved, more cautious youngsters who will obey, can avoid a tanked-up life of disappointment. The ability for parents to slowly introduce alcohol to their children in a supervised environment. Kids introduced to alcohol by their parents would be less likely to binge drink (Parents: Introduction). This could work for some families with trustworthy kids, but with a lower drinking age, the untrustworthy teenagers would be able to buy alcohol and abuse it whenever they wanted. A parent may think their son or daughter is going over to a friend’s house to study. Instead they’re using their allowance to get everyone at the friend’s house wasted. The new drinking age may be eighteen, however, their friend group likely consists of kids seventeen and younger helping themselves to the party liquor. Since the driving age is lower than the drinking age, the underage children will hop right in their cars and take off, under the influence.
