Today a lot more people are surviving the “ war on cancer.” The death rate has dropped 18% and researchers continue to make advances in ways to cure cancer, thanks to the nation's investments in their programs. Although researchers continue to look for new ways to help cancer patients, they have to keep in mind all the different kinds of cancer there are.
Leukemia is cancer of the blood cells. It begins in the bone marrow, where blood cells are made, and rapidly moves into the bloodstream. From there it can spread to the lymph nodes, spleen, liver, and central nervous system. The bone marrow is something that is essential for human life, because if you don't have enough of them your body will shut down from the high population and overproduction of the cells. White blood cells help your body fight infection, while red blood cells move oxygen to all the parts in the human body.
