Today a lot more people are surviving the “ war on cancer.” The death rate has dropped 18% and researchers continue to make advances in ways to cure cancer, thanks to the nation's investments in their programs. Although researchers continue to look for new ways to help cancer patients, they have to keep in mind all the different kinds of cancer there are.

Leukemia is cancer of the blood cells. It begins in the bone marrow, where blood cells are made, and rapidly moves into the bloodstream. From there it can spread to the lymph nodes, spleen, liver, and central nervous system. The bone marrow is something that is essential for human life, because if you don't have enough of them your body will shut down from the high population and overproduction of the cells. White blood cells help your body fight infection, while red blood cells move oxygen to all the parts in the human body. …show more content…

For example, breast cancer is a type of cancer where tumors grow inside the breasts and spread from them. This type of cancer is normally found in women, “ although the incidence of breast cancer is much less common among men, approximately 2,360 American men will learn they have breast cancer this year ” (cancercenter.com para 2). The treatment for this type of cancer, usually is chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Studies to see if there is a correlation between environmental and hereditary factors that lead to cancer show that there is a small connection.

For instance, the type of diet you have whether it’s healthy or not can increase the number of cancer producing cells in the body, although there is no connection of the types of cancers that can form from the diet of the patient, there has been studies conducted on this
