Leukemia

Did you know there is an estimate of 327,520 people living with leukemia or in remission of leukemia in the U.S? So I wanted a way to decrease those numbers. I choose to raise money for leukemia because I know families are suffering each day because the have a family member who is diagnosed with Leukemia.
Some things I learned during my research were Leukemia is the most common kid cancer. I also found out there are more blood cancers than just Lymphoma and Leukemia. There is also Myeloma which is a cancer from a white blood cell that is made in the bone marrow. It normally happens of the age over 50 and it happens to more men than women. In 2016 60,140 people were expected to have Leukemia. In 2008-2012, Leukemia represented 26.7 percent of all cancer. …show more content…

My school and I partnered a fundraiser called pasta for pennies. Which is this fundraiser that raises money for scientist to find a cure for Leukemia and lymphoma. So I continued on the fact that Leukemia is still a widespread cancer.The reason the fundraiser was called pasta for pennies was because Olive Garden sponsored the leukemia and lymphoma society. Leukemia is a cancer/disease that happens when bone marrow and blood forming organs are producing increasing numbers of high blood pressure rates.
So I decided to continue my research on Leukemia. Are school raised about 3,000 dollars, I enjoyed watching all classes bring more and more money each day to fight for the win for a great cause. To collect the money I gave the kids smaller boxes and the class a bigger box to dump what was in the smaller boxes. The class was also given a poster to shade in how much money they earned each
