According to the U.S. Cancer Statistics Working Group, Breast Cancer, in 2014, affected 220,097 women and 2,078 men in the United States; of these 40,931 women and 443 men in the United States died from breast cancer (U.S. Cancer Statistics Working Group). Is there any treatment? Yes, there are five treatments that are the most common: radiation, and chemotherapy, surgery, hormonal therapy, and biological therapy(What Is Breast Cancer). In my own personal experience my aunt had surgery to remove her breast which was extremely painful in itself. Next, she had chemotherapy which caused her to lose all of her hair, which was hard as well because it made her feel less of a human. While doing chemotherapy, they also did radiation, which caused radiation burns on her skin because of aggressive nature of the treatment. The down side is that sometimes cancer can be caused by the very radiation that is being used to get rid of the cancer, so we all are hoping that she does not get cancer back but the chance is still there. Personally, I do not have a family member that had to do hormonal therapy, and biological therapy. According to the Center for Disease Control, “hormonal therapy blocks cancer cells from getting the hormones they need to grow” and “biological therapy works with your body's immune system to help it fight cancer or to control side effects from other cancer treatments. Side effects are how your body reacts to drugs or other treatments”( What Is Breast
